Jan Hargreaves was born in Chadderton on Hallowe'en at the start of the 70s. This site contains some of her writing. In 2006, a short story by Jan called And All The While Knowing was longlisted for the Bridport Prize. Her first novel has been a work in various stages of progress since 1998. Any day now, Jan might abandon it. A short article on why Jan loves the novelist Margaret Atwood was included in “And the living is easy” Women Read Women for International Women’s Week 1999, published by Oldham Libraries. Two of Jan's poems (This and Just A Nudge) were published in the March 2003 edition of The Ugly Tree, with a third (That Kind of Girl) appearing in the July 2003 issue. Two more poems (Chadderton Childhood and Unexpected Delay) appeared in the March 2003 issue of Rain Dog. As well as an article about Rob Gretton, Jan has written unofficial biographies on Sub Sub, Doves and Rebelski. Jan owns a cat, is partial to red wine, vodka, and reading in bed - not necessarily all at the same time - and often wishes her conscience would leave her alone.
